Our apologies...

An inappropriate photo of Illustrious Brother Everett W. Allen, 33°, was published in the September/October 2002 issue of the Scottish Rite News.

The photo was taken from a group that was pictured at a previous Scottish Rite event which included Illustrious Brother Allen.

Our selection of the photo in the September/October 2002 issue should have been more professional...similar to the photo of Illustrious Brother Allen on page 24 of this issue of the Scottish Rite News.

We sincerely regret the selection of the picture in the September/October 2002 issue of the Scottish Rite News and hope that it has not inconvenienced or embarrassed Illustrious Brother Allen in any way.

How you can donate to the
Valley of Cleveland Foundation

By Wilbur Smith
Treasurer, Valley of Cleveland

I have been asked on several occasions “How do I donate to the AASR Valley of Cleveland Foundation”. Gifts of cash are the most popular form of philanthropic giving. Checks should be made out to the AASR Valley of Cleveland Foundation and mailed to the Scottish Rite office.

Another method of giving is a gift of appreciated securities which may avoid capital gains tax on the holdings. Gifts of depreciated securities do not carry these tax advantages. A donor of depreciated securities should usually sell such securities, realize the tax loss, and then give the net proceeds to the Foundation.

An increasingly popular method of giving is through life insurance by naming the Foundation as the beneficiary.

Those who wish to name the Foundation in their will may do so by naming the AASR, Valley of Cleveland Foundation and indicate the amount or a percentage of the estate to be donated. Bequests can be in many forms and it is always best to discuss a bequest to the Foundation with your attorney.

Remember, all gifts to the foundation are tax deductible. To obtain the best advantage to you and the Foundation, the donor should discuss their plans with an attorney and tax accountant.

If you wish, you may contact Wilbur B. Smith at the Valley office.
